Porcelain veneers are a minimally invasive and beautiful way to correct undersized, misshapen, chipped, cracked or dark colored teeth. Often, crooked, cracked or discolored teeth may affect the way you smile or communicate. At Scott W. Grant, DMD Family and Cosmetic Dentistry we believe you should have great confidence in your smile. With porcelain veneers you can look forward to smiling again.

What will happen.

Your first step involved in your smile makeover is a consultation with Dr. Grant. During this time he will interview you and determine your concerns and provide you with several options.

What are porcelain laminates?

Porcelain laminates, also known as porcelain veneers, are thin shells of porcelain which exactly fit over the front surfaces of the teeth. The veneers have the unique ability to completely mask unattractive stains while letting light through to appear entirely real. Like fake fingernails, they are affixed with an adhesive to the front surfaces of teeth.

What are the advantages?

Porcelain veneers solve the same types of problems as bonding – chips, gaps, stains, discolorations, and crooked teeth; however, the veneers have the additional advantage of strength and support. Veneers are relatively maintenance-free and are much more durable than bonding. If very dark stains need to be masked or if existing porcelain crowns need to be matched, porcelain veneers may be the treatment of choice.

Porcelain veneers require two office visits because of the laboratory work involved. Minimal shaping is required to create space for the veneer. Typically there are 7 days between appointments, although special arrangements can be made for a shorter waiting time. Between visits, the patient wears provisional veneers, a kind of smile sculpture which allows us to choose the final result.

Testimonial

“I suffered a fall when I was a toddler and my two front permanent teeth were damaged, discolored, and continuously chipping. After two sets of braces, whitening and thousands of dollars of dental work I was still self conscious of my smile. Now, every time I see my smile in a picture or the mirror, I LOVE IT! I am sincerely grateful for Dr. Grant’s professionalism and perfection in his work. I could not be happier with my smile.”
